Artist Bio
Growing up I attended wood carving seminars with my mother. There I learned different techniques and developed a respect for wood as a medium for art. I went on to receive my BFA in Sculpture at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. There I refined my craft as a sculptor, learning the fundamentals of clay, wood, stone, and metal. Recently I received my MA and MFA at the University of Dallas where I have narrowed my focus to working with found wood. Currently pursuing a teaching career and developing new artwork.

Artist Statement
I have always been intrigued in the physical and metaphoric nature of trees. In my work I challenge these ideas by linking the life and death of tree to the life and death of humans. By manipulating the natural qualities of trees, I change these mundane and often over looked objects into something that questions our ideas of what tree mean to us.
